The annual grape crush at UC Davis campus winery kicked off early Thursday morning, weeks before most winemaking students are scheduled to return for classes.
Dr. Boundy-Mills, a research specialist and curator of the Phaff Yeast Culture Collection won a UC Davis Science Translation and Innovative Research Grant. The program provides university funding and support for innovative research. The grant was awarded for Structure and activities of biosurfactants produced through a renewable, yeast-based, reduced cost process.
This 1-day workshop will provide participants with in-depth information for converting high-water-use conventional lawns into beautiful low-water-use, attractive, native, and climate-appropriate landscapes.
In collaboration with the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, the World Food Center and the Shrem Museum, Harvest will feature food, wine, beer and live music in the Good Life Garden, and a silent auction at the Robert Mondavi Institute. The evening will conclude with a performance at the Mondavi Center.
The first Great Chefs event is Saturday, September 13, 2014, and features Chef Daniel Olivella of Barlata restaurant in Austin, TX, and B44, a Catalan Bistro in San Francisco, CA.
