Congratulations to FST undergrads Vincenza Priana, Vivian Wu, Illoisa Lambojon, and Aceline Chiu for their 2nd place win in the Ocean Spray Student Product Development Competition earlier this month! Their products were "Cranookie Butter" and "Cranbilantro", both pictured below.
The competition guidelines specified the use of two varieties of cranberries (one yellow, one red) to create unique and versatile sauces, condiments, or dips that would excite home cooks of all ages during the pandemic and diversify their cooking repertoire, as well as inspire them to use cranberries outside of the holiday season. At least one of the varieties had to be based on international flavors; the developed product aim was "food flavor elevation." Entries were evaluated based on product originality, cranberry content, technical feasibility and marketability of the product.
Yum! Pass the chips!
Also, at the IFT annual product competitions this summer, the FST team of Bryan J. Magaline, Dionisius Alvin Gunadi, Vici Thahir, Lim Lik Xian, and Milton Chung took honorable mention in the finals of the IFT Smart Snacks for Kids Product Development Competition with their product "ChrunchyDip2".
The team of Mathew Sujanto, Valerie Basuli, Kiev Ung, Liwenan Li, Casper Heys and Jared Winter (team captain), also took honorable mention in the finals of the IFT Developing Solutions for Developing Countries Product Development Competition for their "Amazing Flour" entry. Only six teams out of at least 24 teams that entered were allowed to advance to the finals and compete at the annual IFT event, so we're sending a big congratulations to both of the FST teams at IFT for their honorable mentions!
