Dear FST Alumni, Donors and Friends,
I'm delighted to serve the Department of Food Science and Technology as the latest Chair. As a UC Davis alumnus myself, I know how special UC Davis is and the lifelong impact it has on its students. As a member of the faculty, it is particularly rewarding to contribute to the success of our Food Science students and witness the growth of our department and community of supporters.
Now, the department is pleased to announce that this year we will have the opportunity to participate in another action packed 29-hour online and on-the-ground fundraising effort to support UC Davis students, faculty, and university programs. The UC Davis Give Day 2024 will be held in conjunction with the campus’ in-person Picnic Day starting officially at noon on April 19th and ending at 5pm on April 20th. As a department, we will be highlighting one Give Day challenge gift and we are asking for your support in helping us reach our goal.
- The Sensory Hub General Support Fund was created by UC Davis alumnus Rebecca Bleibaum and her husband Kevin Bleibaum in support of the department’s Sensory and Consumer Science Program. Thanks to their generous commitment of $50,000 the fund will help support the future of sensory and consumer science and facilitate the creation of a “HUB” of student scholars, faculty and industry professionals across the globe. If you are interested in learning more about the “HUB” please visit, https://ucdavis.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0xE5wC7jaZEDVAi.
By making a donation to the Sensory Hub General Support Fund you will help us to continue to honor the legacy of this program, support current and future UC Davis food science students, and grow the broader reach of sensory and consumer science. To make a monetary donation at any level now until April 20th visit https://giveday.ucdavis.edu/giving-day/85663/donate?des=614742&dept=85668. For questions and/or if you are interested in making a gift of stock or through a retirement account, please reach out to Shani Alford, Assistant Director of Development at sbalford@ucdavis.edu or 530-723-3242.
Your support is appreciated! Go Aggies.
Sincerely,
Christopher Simmons, Ph.D.
