D.D. Williamson's Natural Coloring Competition is an annual contest which challenges students to create a new product or modify an existing one that incorporates natural coloring in its ingredients. The UC Davis team, consisting of team captain Dian Halim and Efran Tash, has created "Strip-­Z: The all natural instant fruit beverage strip." It is an instant beverage in the form of an edible film to provide ease and efficiency for consumer use. They were interested in developing this idea because there are currently no existing products in this form of the chosen product category. Strip-­Z is unique, and it consists of natural ingredients with no added sweeteners. The team hopes that in the future this product can be developed even further to create a new potential market.
